Welcome to the Fairfax Family Practice Residency Site!
VCU-Fairfax Family Medicine provides unique family medicine specialty training in the sophisticated and culturally diverse Northern Virginia Area. Established in 1971, Fairfax Family Practice launched its residency program in 1972, becoming one of the premier family medicine residency programs using a longitudinal curriculum. Now known as VCU-Fairfax Family Medicine, the program is the result of collaboration between the Virginia Commonwealth University Department of Family Medicine, INOVA Health System, and Fairfax Family Practice Centers, a privately owned group practice.
With an emphasis on adult learning and a tradition of innovation and caring for community, the VCU-Fairfax Family Medicine Residency incorporates the latest in medical technology and educational philosophy. The program uses a comprehensive electronic medical record, a web based resident and program evaluation system, and has developed new programs in Sports Medicine and International and Community Health. VCU-Fairfax Family Medicine provides an ideal atmosphere for physicians training to practice in an ever evolving, real world clinical environment.
